A: The machinery and molds to make the lights are very expensive. The initial buyer, whether it is a company, club, or individual must guarantee the purchase of at least 2000 sets over a 2 year period to have a new model developed. Once enough demand is generated development begins which can take from 6 months to 2 years.
A: The most common reasons for new lights to be delayed are: DOT approval, DOT required redesign, electrical wiring problems, demand has dropped, labor strikes, shipping delays, manufacturing defects in fit and finish, shipping damage, customs problems, and natural disasters. The manufacturer provides a date that they expect the lights to be delivered for distribution, but not including any of the unforeseen events listed above.
A: Lights are changed or discontinued when one of the following occurs: A specific design is no longer a good selling design, The DOT requires a change to make them legal, or an inherent design flaw causes a high rate of failure.
A: Usually you can’t. Euro tail lights are only sold in complete sets from the manufacturer. Occasionally a freight company will damage a set in transit which leaves single good lights. You may want to check with a large direct warehouse shipping department if you need only one. You may get lucky and fine one. Expect to pay half the value of a full set.
A: Most are perfectly legal but not all. To be legal the lights must meet and have the Department of Transportation’s FMVSS108 certification. Just saying DOT on the lens doesn’t make the lights street legal. All legal lights are registered by factory part number with the DOT.
A: There are several reasons that lights leak. Some are defects in the lights and some are install or abuse errors. Some defects to look for are: poorly sealed lens, missing seal around lock cylinder, and cracks. Some install errors to avoid: blocked air vent holes, Improperly installed tail light gasket/seal, moisture inside the vehicles trunk area, bulbs not installed all the way, Submerging the lights when launching a boat.
A: No, ‘Altezza’ is not a brand. Altezza is a nickname widely used to describe all euro style tail lights (clear lenses). The Lexus is300, or Lexus Altezza, was the first car to come with tat style of lights and the name stuck. APC, Crystal Eyes, KS, TYC, and YD are the five companies that make Euro tail lights. All other brands re-box lights from these five companies.
A: Most of the Altezza lights do not come with amber indicators. A very limited amount, specifically from Carwear, can be found with these indicators. Unfortunately, they do not make the application you have.
A: The prices quoted are for a complete set. A set is comprised of the pieces shown in the picture (which is generally the amount of lights that it takes to replace your stock ones). Some sets, though, may not fully replace all your lights (ex. 93-97 Toyota Corolla - can be bought as a two piece set with no center piece). None of the lights are incomplete unless it's specifically refers to one side, like a "left" or "right" only.
A: Manufacturers will typically make lights if they feel that they can recover their costs (tooling, marketing, shipping, etc). Usually, the more popular cars (in terms of volume and year spans) will have lights made first. We don't know when there are plans to make this light, but if they should appear, will put them up right away.
A: Some Accord have two of the mount holds slightly offset from the earlier year. Some customers have reported having to drill a new hole. Others have had no problems. Since it's not consistent, we make the disclaimer just in case.
A: Manufacturers have yet to make a 95-96 version of the projector light. The 97-99 will fit, but they will have gaps. The difference between the two years is that the front bumper cover is different. If you change your front bumper cover to a 97+ year, it will fit perfectly.
A: The 95-99 Sentra Projector lights will not fit directly to the stock car as they are made for the Asian market. We do have limited instructions on how these work, but it's best to take these lights to a professional for installation. We can email instructions to those that have purchased the lights from us.
A: Resellers receive different pricing depending on the volume they purchase. The more they buy the more they save. Additionally, a manufacturer may have a close-out which affects the one-time price they receive on a particular item.
A: No, we do not sell rejects. No tail light manufacturer knowingly sell defective products. They destroy all flawed tail lights discovered during manufacturing. Companies selling at lower prices are buying at a lower cost or have smaller markups than others. Don’t be fooled by companies who tell you others sell defective lights – it’s not true. Yet others try to say their competitors are not an “authorized distributor.” None of the manufacturers authorize distributors – companies sell the lights or they don’t.
A: The prices listed are USD. You can find out what the CAD amount is by going to www.xe.net. Their exchange rate is a very good approximation. Also note, for Canada deliveries, we charge duties, customs, and brokerage fees upfront. This is your "landed" price, which means you don't pay anything once it crosses the border. Call or email us for more details.
